There’s no way a 120-mile drive would take us eight hours. Or, so we thought. It was our honeymoon and we had just set out along Hwy 1 from Freeport, Maine to Bar Harbor, a stretch of winding, rolling roadway that produced more quaint, coastal communities than even our photo albums recall. We stopped… again and again. And in each community we were inspired by classic storefronts, unique products, and the wonderful hospitality readily offered inside the many small town shops. Eight hours later, our cozy oceanfront room at the Bar Harbor Inn would provide the final inspiration for our future back in Minnesota.

It was June 2000 when we opened the doors to Autumn Cottage in the historic river town of Stillwater, Minnesota. Drawing on many of our experiences we enjoyed while traveling through Maine, Autumn Cottage serves to provide customers with comfortable, casual furniture, unique home décor, fun gifts and unparalleled customer service. We believe coming home every night should feel like returning to your favorite vacation spot.
